A new mall built at the former Studio City landmark, known as Sportsmen’s Lodge, is now open after a two-year, multi-million dollar renovation.
The 95,000 square foot commercial and retail space, located at the corner of Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Ventura Boulevard, recently signed new stores and restaurants, including the upscale Fred Segal store, the sustainable clothing and accessories Reformation and the Great, a women’s ready-to-wear by Emily Current & Meritt Elliot.
“Each of these new tenants complements the variety of businesses located inside The Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge,” said John Usdan, managing director of owner Midwood Investment & Development.
Fred Segal will open its first store in the summer of 2022 at The Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge and will be the brand’s first location in the San Fernando Valley.
“We will bring a unique retail experience to the Valley for those who don’t want to travel to West Hollywood or Malibu to shop,” Jeff Lotman, CEO of Fred Segal, said in a statement.
The stores and restaurants will join a list of other well-known tenants, including Civil Coffee, Free People Movement, Madison Reed, Myodetox, Roberta’s Pizza, SALT Optics, Tocaya, Tuesday’s Sweet Shoppe, Ushi Ushi and luxury supermarket chain Erewhon Market. already signed the lease.
The $100 million manufacturer from New York-based Midwood Investment & Development was launched in 2019 by Midwood Investment & Development in conjunction with architectural firm Gensler and design studio OLIN.
The company said earlier it worked closely with the city’s Cultural Heritage Commission to preserve the area’s natural foliage and tree canopy and ensure views of the nearby pond, pool and LA River. .
