LAPD investigates Studio City home invasion – NBC Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Police Department is searching for four masked men wearing hoodies after a violent home burglary in Studio City on Thursday night.

One of the victims was ambushed outside the home on the 10800 block of Alta Vista Drive in Studio City as she was taking out the trash, police say.

It was then that the group of men assaulted four other people, one of whom is disabled.

The Los Angeles Fire Department transported the first assault victim in an unknown condition around 7:30 p.m.

“One of them pointed a gun at him. Throw him down and they start beating him. They took him into the house. Three other people, two guards and the man’s child who’s bedridden. They put flexible handcuffs on them and then they ransacked the location,” LAPD Detective Todd Holmberg said.

Police say they don’t yet know exactly what was taken. Only that the men escaped through the back door.

Neighbors spilled onto the street as the investigation progressed.

“An officer came to the house and asked if we had video from the front and we said no. Our cameras are not working,” said Michael Thacher, one of the neighbors.

Police said they had no reason to believe it was a home robbery.

“It’s a home invasion and it’s concerning. People who do this target these areas. Tends to be where the money is. I don’t mean it’s common, but it does happen,” said Detective Holmberg.

LAPD says situational awareness and functional security systems are recommended.
