A driver who was chased by authorities on multiple highways on Monday and eluded police when he stopped in a parking lot at Studio City Place mall has been arrested.
The chase began around 2 p.m. when the California Highway Patrol attempted to arrest the driver in an SUV near the Foothill Freeway (210) and South Grand Avenue in the Glendora area and he fled, said CHP officer Stephan Brandt.

The driver, who traveled from the 210 freeway to the Ventura freeway (134), sometimes reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.
CHP called off the chase when the driver exited the freeway at Cahuenga Avenue, where he nearly hit a person sitting on a sidewalk near the exit ramp.
The driver eventually made it to Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, then pulled into the parking lot outside a Marshalls.
Multiple Los Angeles Police Department cruisers arrived at the scene around 2:50 p.m. and authorities established a perimeter at Fruitland Drive and Ventura Boulevard, LAPD Officer William Cooper said.
The suspect was taken into LAPD custody around 4 p.m., Brandt said.
